Texas Food Manager Exam Online

Get your TDSHS Food Manager's Certificate online.

The Texas Department of State Health Services Food Manager training and certification exam are now online for the first time. Previously only the Food Manager training course was available online, while the actual certification exam itself had to be taken in a live classroom setting. Now, both the training course and the certification exam can be conveniently completed online.

The online training courses and certification exam are sponsored by TexasLiquorLicense.com, a TABC licensing agent for the State of Texas, and includes training in the HACCP and TDSHS food safety guidelines. Both the Food Manager certification and TABC Alcohol Seller/Server certification are available through the TexasLiquorLicense.com virtual university.

The online test is licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services (formerly the Texas Department of Health). Upon completion of the online training course and a passing score on the online test, you will receive your official TDSHS Food Manager certification card, which must be presented to health inspectors upon inspection of your food establishment. Certification is required by the State of Texas to prove your knowledge of HACCP and TDSHS food industry safety and health guidelines.

A certified Food Manager is required by law to be on premises at all times during operating hours. Some Texas jurisdictions require a minimum of two Food Managers to be on site at all times (check with your local health department). It's good business sense to have all managers and kitchen staff properly trained in HACCP and TDSHS food safety guidelines and certified with the State as a Food Manager.

How Do I Get Started?

Just click on the link above labeled "Start Here" to be taken the TexasLiqourLicense.com virtual university portal. Then select from the drop down menu "Food Safety" to pull up the course catalogue for the certification program. Unless you have already received TDSHS food safety training, we recommend that you take the Food Safety training program prior to taking the online exam. Select the "Package" to receive both the training course and online examination.
